  3. Students may, with the approval of the Board of the School, be admitted to part-time study for the BSc either by direct entry or by transfer from full-time registration. A student who has initially registered for part-time study may, with the permission of the School Board, be eligible to register subsequently for full-time study as an honours student if this is permitted within the relevant programme regulations. Permission to transfer to full-time study will be granted by the School Board only if the appropriate number of units have already been completed satisfactorily at the point of transfer.

  4. The course for a BSc by part-time study shall extend over not less than 4, and not more than 8, academic years.

  5. Part-time students will be subject to the same individual course requirements as is specified by the programme regulations for full-time students. Apart from prescribed units, choice of options shall be made in consultation with the student's personal tutor and shall be subject in all cases to the approval of the School Board.

  6. Students will be expected to register for a minimum of 3, and a maximum of 6, units per academic year. Credit points are equally distributed at 15 points per unit; to qualify for the award of an honours degree, part-time candidates must have registered for units with a total credit points value of at least 360.

  7. The required number of Year 1 units for any degree programme must be completed within 3 years. A September referral is permitted for up to 3 failed papers. Failure in more than 3 papers will require a full resit of that year's papers. During Years 2 and 3, a part-time student may be referred in up to 6 units and be re-examined in those failed units. No further re-examination will be permitted. A student may not take a different unit as an alternative to a referred examination paper.

  8. In the event of course changes being agreed during the period of registration, part-time students may be required to take a course or courses other than those originally available.
